Quick answer: The simplest way is the free Zoho Mail app (App Store / Google Play): sign in with your full address and everything is configured, including push notifications. To use Apple Mail, Gmail or Outlook instead, first enable IMAP in Zoho, then add an IMAP account with these settings. They are for a business address on your own domain in the EU data center.
| Server | Port | Security | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incoming (IMAP) | imappro.zoho.eu | 993 | SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing (SMTP) | smtppro.zoho.eu | 465 (or 587) | SSL/TLS (or STARTTLS on 587) |
| Username | Your full email address, e.g. [email protected] | ||
| Password | Your Zoho password, or an app-specific password if two-factor authentication is on | ||
If you log in at mail.zoho.com instead of mail.zoho.eu, use imappro.zoho.com and smtppro.zoho.com. Free personal Zoho accounts (not your own domain) use imap.zoho.eu and smtp.zoho.eu.
Step 1: Enable IMAP access in Zoho
IMAP is switched off by default, and phones are refused until you enable it.
- Log in to Zoho Mail on a computer and open Settings (the gear icon).
- Go to Mail Accounts and click your address.
- Under IMAP, tick IMAP Access and click Save.
Step 2: Create an app-specific password (only with two-factor authentication)
If you sign in to Zoho with a second factor (OneAuth, SMS, authenticator app), your normal password won't work in a mail app. Open accounts.zoho.eu → Security → App Passwords, generate one named for example "iPhone", and use it as the password below. You only need to enter it once per device.
Step 3a: iPhone and iPad (Apple Mail)
- Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account (on older iOS versions: Settings → Mail → Accounts).
- Choose Other → Add Mail Account. Enter your name, full address, password and a description, then tap Next.
- Select IMAP at the top.
- Incoming Mail Server: host
imappro.zoho.eu, username = your full address, password. - Outgoing Mail Server: host
smtppro.zoho.eu, the same username and password. Outgoing authentication is required. - Tap Next, keep Mail switched on and Save.
If iOS chose the wrong port, open the account → Account → Advanced: incoming port 993 with SSL on. For outgoing, tap SMTP → smtppro.zoho.eu: port 465 with SSL on.
Step 3b: Android (Gmail app)
- In the Gmail app, tap your profile picture → Add another account → Other.
- Enter your full address and tap Manual setup → Personal (IMAP).
- Enter the password, then the incoming server
imappro.zoho.eu, port 993, security SSL/TLS. - Outgoing server
smtppro.zoho.eu, port 465, security SSL/TLS, "Require sign-in" on. - Choose a sync frequency and finish.
Samsung Email and Outlook for Android ask for the same values: pick IMAP and enter the table above.
Contacts and calendar
IMAP syncs email only. To get your Zoho contacts and calendar on the phone too, use the Zoho Mail app (and Zoho Calendar), or add CardDAV/CalDAV accounts. Zoho lists the exact sync URLs in your account settings.
Troubleshooting
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Username or password incorrect" | Two-factor authentication is on | Use an app-specific password (Step 2). |
| "Cannot connect to server" | IMAP access not enabled, or wrong region | Enable IMAP (Step 1); use .eu or .com to match the address you log in at. |
| Receiving works, sending fails | SMTP authentication off or wrong port | Turn on authentication; port 465 + SSL or 587 + STARTTLS. |
| Login works but no new mail arrives | Domain MX records don't point to Zoho | See Zoho Mail DNS records in Plesk. |
| Error mentions "imap.zoho.eu" | Personal-account servers used for a business address | Use imappro / smtppro. |
