Consolidating your domains under one provider makes managing your billing and DNS much easier. Transferring your domain to Ypsilon is a quick, seamless process.
Prerequisites for Transferring
Before initiating a transfer on our website, you must complete these three steps at your current/old registrar:
- Unlock the Domain: Remove the registrar lock (often called "Domain Lock" or "Theft Protection"). A locked domain cannot be transferred.
- Disable WHOIS Privacy: Ensure your administrative email contact is visible, as transfer approval emails may be sent to that address.
- Obtain the EPP Code: Request the EPP Authorization Code (Auth-Code) from your current registrar. This acts as the password to authorize the transfer.
Initiating the Transfer
Once you have the EPP code and the domain is unlocked:
- Log into your Ypsilon Client Area.
- Go to Domains > Transfer Domains to Us.
- Enter your domain name and click Transfer.
- On the next screen, enter your extremely secure EPP Code and proceed to checkout.
How Long Does It Take?
Once paid, the transfer is initiated automatically. Depending on your old registrar, passing the domain over can take anywhere from 1 hour to 7 full days. Note: Your website will not go offline during a domain transfer.
