Understanding DNS Propagation

  • 13 ?האם התשובה שקיבלתם הייתה מועילה

When you update the nameservers for a domain or change an A-record, the changes do not happen instantly globally. This delay is known as DNS Propagation.

Why does it take time?

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) all around the world cache DNS records to speed up web browsing. When you change a record, you must wait for these caches to expire before the new IP address is recognized globally.

Propagation typically takes anywhere from 1 to 24 hours depending on the TTL (Time to Live) setting of your previous records.

How to check propagation

You can use free online tools like DNSChecker to track the global status of your domain's new IP address across different geographic locations.
