Regular backups are your ultimate safety net against accidental deletions, malicious attacks, or faulty software updates. Plesk's Backup Manager makes peace of mind effortless.
Creating a Manual Backup
Before making a major change to your site, it's wise to create an on-demand backup.
- Go to Websites & Domains, find your domain, and click Backup Manager in the right-side menu panel.
- Click Back Up.
- Select what you want to back up: Domain configuration, Mail configuration and content, and/or User files and databases. In most cases, selecting all is recommended.
- Choose whether to store it in the server storage or an external FTP repository.
- Click OK. The backup will run in the background, and you'll be notified when it completes.
Setting Up Scheduled Backups
Automation is key. In the Backup Manager, click on Schedule.
Here you can instruct Plesk to automatically run a full backup weekly and an incremental backup (saving only what changed since the last backup) daily. You can configure Plesk to retain a maximum number of backups (e.g., keeping only the last 14 days) to prevent filling your disk storage entirely.
Restoring from a Backup
If something goes wrong, return to the Backup Manager. You will see a chronological list of your available backups. Click on the date of the backup you wish to restore. You will be given the option to restore the entire server space or selectively restore just a specific database or a single file!
